Default 5.3 boost

Was just wondering how much boost a fully built 5.3 can handle? By fully built I mean, forged bottem end, the whole 9 yards. And can they handle twins?

well, ill say this how i understand it best,

BOOST means nothing

think of building, racing, and tolerances of a car and its parts in horsepower, how much horsepower can a turbo make how much horsepower can a transmission handle and how much horsepower can i make with this fuel pump.

if your internal parts are good enough i hear you can rattle the stock mains around 1200-1400 rear wheel horsepower, so you need pinned caps and or billet mains? i believe speed inc told me this once

with you saying 5.3 i feel you mean stock block, so stock block with an entire eagle, callies, what have you stroker assembly like 350 cubes on average some are 347 some are larger etc.

youll probably be able to nail down 1100 with an auto safely for a long time with a good fuel system and reputable tuner.

maybe even more? i am unsure.

twins, single turbo, quardrouple turbo, nitrous and turbo, blower, blower and turbo, whatever combination does not matter so long as they can supply the CFM and cold enough air to sustain safe hp levels.

Thanks for the explanation. I have 5.3 now with a 222/224 cam and hp tuned in a silverado 2wd.

I'm planning on pulling it out and rebuilding it completely and boosting it is what I want to do. I know a lot about motors and building them, but very little about power adders. What would be a good turbo set up for roughly 800rwhp?

get a single turbo kit from Trick performance or KBracing, huron speed, etc, so long as it will fit a s475 turbo, or a billet 76 from Forced inductions.

on pump fuel 80lb injectors should get there or damn close to it, i did 790whp with 80lb injectors, siemens deka's drop into the truck intake you just have to space up the fuel rail half an inch.

Newbs think boost means anything when it comes to power/torque.

How much can it handle with the whole 9 yards? I dunno, fill the block and run some thick deck heads it'll probably handle 2500 HP.
