Default Transmission options

What are people using manual or automatic transmissions? When pushing 1000+ hp. I want to make 1000hp to the wheels in my "67 Chevy II. I am wanting to go with a T56 magnum, but also want it to be streetable. If I have to drop down in hp then that is what I'll have to do.

You can run 1000+ with a 6 speed, I am. Mine acts like stock, drives like stock. The issue is it takes a nasty clutch and trans. It will not be as quick in the 1/4 as an auto. If street car mostly it is very streetable. More so than a 2 or 3 speed auto because I consider highway speeds street driving. Low rpm on the highway is streetable.
