Default Please Help! Maggie 112 questions

Hi All,

I am in need of some help, I have searched the entire internet twice and all that has done is just confuse me more! I wand to build a FI LS on a budget (just like everyone else in the world!) around a magna charger 112. My goal is to achieve 500 to 600 hp at the crank. The 112 came off a truck and now I am looking for the appropriate long block combination to deal wit the Maggie limitations. I know that I will be limited to 10# of boost max before the blower just becomes too inefficient due to heat soak. So I am leaning towards a 10.5 CR. I am hoping that I can get to 550 ish with 10# and 10.5 CR then add meth to get to 600. I have resigned myself to the fact that I wont be able to find a LQ9 so my choices are the LQ4 or the 5.3. If I start with a LQ4 - what heads are the best budget heads to use? Do I mill a set of 243's or go with the 317's. On each of them how much should I mill them? I am planning a LS9 or LS7 cam. Additionally if I go with a 5.3 and the same cam how much should I mill the 317's on the 5.3?

Thanks!

Lq9s work prety good with 10.5:1 compression and a very small cam.

If you run a 5.3l do not put 317s heads on as you will loose too much compression for the 112.

They can make 550 hp at the flywheel with a very simple setup.

Go with an 8 rib pulley system from the start. If you are looking for 10# with out the aggravation of belt slip it has to be 8 rib ( oversized crank pulley 8" & about 3.1" on the jack shaft) with headers & mild cam, it should get you where you want to be without over spinning the blower. Hellbent is tremendously knowledgable re: Maggie's. I've taken his advice directly & indirectly via this site, so I would listen to what is being said. I can tell you from first hand experience that you are on the right path with high compression. I ran 11.2:1 on 10#s and made 520 @ the wheels ( about 500 TQ). That's all I could get out of this daily driver. Lots of fun, and it should meet your goals but you will be limited to that. I would also recommend meth ( or 50/50) for safety. The IATs on a Maggie get ridiculous compared to other applications. It's all part of doing business. The meth/H2o will cool things down in the high compression environment. " it's like grandma's chicken soup .. Can't hurt "

PS: I have an ECS HD tensioner & multiple 8 rib pulleys that I am selling. PM me if your interested.
