Default truck manifold vs ls1 for driver side?

im looking at a pic of 98 ls1 vs truck manifold from this link

https://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-in...l#post12796551

I can see why people use the truck manifold for the passenger side but why not use the stock ls1 for the driver side? the 98 one (will have to weld egr shut) looks like it sits higher than the truck which means a bit more clearance for the downpipe to go down there?

If you're willing to cut off the casted ear that the alternator mounted to then it could work. As I recall even the truck manifold was kind of a tight fit but it did work. If it were angled up anymore I couldn't see it working like it does without cutting.

Not true.

they fit just fine with plenty of clearance.

Im under mocking up stage and I know for a fact that my 98 works fine flipped. no cutting needed.

im actually planning on just flipping both headers. The passenger side will need to be modified a bit but im interested in keeping my a/c so to me its not an option buying a set of truck mani.
