Ask Justin Smith about the 2 RHS blocks he had fail, then their lack of support afterward.

I personally have never spent a dime with ERL but if I was to build a serious LSX base with an aluminum block ERL will for sure get my money. The new Dart would be next.

Look at Ohio Boys Racing... 6 second cars, 215mph at 3300 pounds on a radial, stock suspension. Ray Litz single 88mm 275 radial, 7.40s at 3400. Mark Carlyle was on the ERL before he went full billet. The results don't lie here and these guys aren't rebuilding after every race either!

Now this is just hearsay, but the only issues I ever noticed on the web when others deal with ERL is the downtime and block issues not getting taken care of for the general population very well. I don't have a certain example to point out, but just noticed a few over the years. I know what they make works well (as I want a superdeck at some point), but it seems the small guy can slip through the cracks too easy. I just get sick of all the vendors taking advantage of the little guys (that pay full price) so that the sponsor cars get serviced first. I understand they got to keep the name out there, but without all the little guys you don't have a business. Thanks to the web and some no BS sites the little guys are heard now which helps.

Based on what I've read, and knowing someone personally who has gone through two RHS blocks, 1000HP seems okay but above that I'd be doing an LSX block. If going for 2000 HP or more I'd do an LME-prepped (dry decked) LSX block, Warhawk, or Billet Dart block.

I'd go LSX or dart.....

Pictured is a ERL.

They told me they couldn't repair it. When asked about purchasing a new one and trying to save cash by using the old parts that were still good (Caps, studs, etc..) they would only credit me half the cost of the parts I was supplying.... I could go more into their customer service, but that's for another thread. Hard to think it's a 5k paperweight. So I'll go iron in the future, i'll take the extra weight knowing it will take more abuse.

You don't have to take erl's word for it why don't you go get it quoted somewhere else?

If you are looking for a block that will be in good shape after blowing up I don't think any of these are up to your requirements.

I'm not saying if it was iron, it would of survived. Just saying the iron would be more durable. The Erl block is shot from the few places I asked.

There are a few locals making big power on LSX.

Same. For a high HP street car I'll take the lsx.

I got mine in and it is a nice peice. Going to need a lot of prep but the deck and cylinders are stout
