the weight difference between lq4/lq9 gen3/gen4 After some reading and searching seems all I can find was that gen 4 rods ate heavier. While this I true one thing is never mentioned, it seems the wrist pin gets forgotten. Well being that its shorter it weighs less and decided to weigh the whole assembly for comparison since seeing so many ask about being able to direct swap and does it really need balancing. So I weighed a newer lq4 piston an gen 3 rod combo, then a gen 4 rod and lq4 piston combo, and then a gen 4 rod and lq9 piston combo. The gen 3 rod and second lq4 piston design weighed in at 1305, the gen 4 rod lq4 piston was 1321, and the lq9 gen 4 rod was 1310. All these weights are in grams as well. Just thought I would share with everyone, food for thought the heaviest gen4 rod and lq4 piston was also .020 oversize so take that into consideration also.
