Default Holley EFI rev limiter question.

I have been reading a couple of threads about people bending rods hitting the rev limiter and it raised a question in my mind. They were cutting spark to the cylinders but not the fuel. My question is, if you choose the cut fuel option as well as cutting spark, does the Holley just cut power to the injector of the cylinder that will not be firing on that cycle? It seems to me that should be easier on the engine correct?

Links to said threads. I've never heard the holley rev limiter causing bent rods. There are other issues with it though.

I would think if the spark were limited the 02 sen. would limit fuel also
I know you can pick what the limiter does, what it removes to limit RPM
if enough fuel went into the cyl. w/o spark then a form of hydro lock could occur, but seems like it would be a lot of fuel
I think I had mine cut fuel and spark

The holley goes into open loop on the limiter by default.

There is no possible way the rev limiter could cause a bent rod

Some favour fuel cut, some spark cut, some both. There isnt really any right or wrong, unless say you had cats fitted, in which case you must cut fuel otherwise you'd likely damage the cat.

But some just dont like chucking unburnt fuel into the cylinder, potentially wetting plugs, or chucking it into a red hot exhuast manifold/turbine etc

It was just speculation in both threads. One the car was on the limiter the last 100' in the quarter and the second hit the limiter before the damage happened. It just raised a question in my mind so I thought I would ask. I don't think I would like unburnt E85 being dumped in my cylinders with 160lb injectors at over 6500 rpm, but I also wouldn't want to see a lean condition from not enough fuel either.
