Default ls1 internals vs lq4 internals?

im looking at getting my car back together this winter and my original plan was to pick up an LQ4 short block form ebay for roughly $600-700 with what ever shipping is and use 317s, ARP studs and a turbo cam and run 12psi, how ever a friend got a hold of an LS1 with 53k miles on it and is very clean, out of an 02 trans am, he only wants $700 for the everything but heads and i also already have stock ls1 heads so this dosnt bother me as i only want the short block anyway.

would running an LS1 with 317 heads, arp studs turbo cam being some where around 9.2-9.3:1 CR be on the safe/reliable side for running 12psi?

ive read here and there but nothing with a lot of info that ls1 internals are weaker then 5.3/lq4s, is this true and will i have issues with the ls1 on 12psi at 9.2:1CR NOT stock 10.1:1?

i had a 5.3L with 243s with 9.1:1CR on 16psi and it was great till i lost fueling on a pull..RIP little 5.3L, i have a feeling if my fuel system kept up it be alive to this day so i have full confidence in truck engines just not too sure how the LS1s like the boost in comparative

up to about 700 hp (which is definitely pushing it) you should be fine

12 psi should about get you there just tune for NO detonation and the pistons should live which are definitely a weak link

the ls pistons are strong hyper but with the ring lands up so high it's easy to break them

if i get 500- 600rwhp ill be happy, u think that combo would be close to 700rwhp? and the ls1 ringlands are shorter then tru k riglands is what makes then weak?
