5.3 l33 boost build?
Hello, first post here on ls1tech and i wanted to see if you guys could help me figure out the best way to boost my l33. By supercharger or turbo?
Okay so my truck happened to come with a l33 5.3. Now ive added a cam and springs and some nitrous. Definitely love the nitrous but its a pain to have to refill and honestly idk how much more my 5.3 will take. I ran a 13.2 on a 100 shot which was no where near what i thought i would run. Now
Ive seen some turbo builds and i wanna know if my block could handle it. Im looking to spend about 4k nothing to crazy. But id love to keep my l33. But the bad thing is shes about to break 160k and idk if on boost it will finally give out. Now what kit could i run.. A turbo off ebay? Or would a supercharger be perfect? Maybe throw some websites of similar builds.. Anything helps and thanks for taking the time and reading my thread (:

Huron speed, on3 performance both make a very affordable turbo kit for your truck that is bolt on. Altho I think on3 performance is complete and huron speed might just be a hotside setup only still. Not positive on that you'll have to check.
Kbracing also makes a nice setup but is a little more money depending on which stage kit you get.
Any of them can and will take you to 600whp+ and your 160k mile l33 will take every bit of it and ask for more I bet.
Dozens upon dozens of ppl have either used that motor in a truck it came in or transplanted it into a car of some sort and pushed them for years at 500-600whp reliably. Anything after 600whp is a gamble but at the same time mant hace gambled and gone 700-800whp successfully with even more miles.
Im not real up on my engine codes but I thought that is a gen 3 internal motor and if it is they dont play well past 600whp, and I say 600whp cause that is about the safe limit as most will agree. After that you risk bending the rods. If it is a gen 4 motor then you are safe to 700whp easily cause they have a stronger rod from the factory.

The L33 is a major favorite around here when it comes to boost. It was the first stock bottom end LS motor to run an 8-second pass. I'm pretty sure there have been at least 2 more run in the 8s since then, and 2 stock bottom end L33s that have been in X275 cars.
It has gen 4 internals also.
It'll handle it....
