For 600whp, the stock cam will work fine.
Around 600whp I'd recommend the Isky Triple 12 from Stock48. Major powerband improvements on a 5.3 and great driveability.
Anything above that you can use one of his larger cams or get one custom specced from Martin @ Tick or John @ LJMS.

Stage 1 cam with an 83mm turbine S472 would make 650-700 to the tire, drive like a cadillac, sound like a hotrod, and run for as long as you wanted it to stay together. Great combination for that power goal. That cam kit is 719 with ti retainers... and 679 with steel. Call the shop... tell me your an LS1tech member... and I will give you 5% off the order.
