Default Supercharged LQ4 on a budget?

Still debating on going EFI BBC or Supercharged LS based for my 1972 Chevelle. Is it possible to build a 402/408 with a Kenne Bell or Maggy for a budget of 10-12k? I found a complete LQ4 for $550 that needs a rebuild that could be a good start. Otherwise I have a complete 99 454 that I'd stroke to a 496. BBC can be done for 8-9k. Thanks!

PS. Not interested in turbo.

Yeah, it can be done. That LQ4 is not a bad deal. It just depends on what you want. If you want a fresh motor, then it is a good start. If you don't care, there are low mileage used motors out there, that can be had for probably less than what you'll have in a rebuilt setup. Just curious, why no interest in a turbo?
There is a little more fab, but a much bigger variety of choices, and, you can keep it out of boost, and keep decent mileage, just a win, win in my opinion. Oh yeah, and, it's free horsepower, no parasitic drag.

Just went through that with my 71 c10. Decided a forged piston 454 with a carb'd ysi would be cooler, and dead nuts simple. Any reason you want to stroke it? Let the blower do the work.

The LQ4 has a rod knock so it needs to rebuilt anyways.
