Whipple Indicator Light and Service Engine Soon Light
Well, this evening I'm cruisin' back from the movie with the wife when I notice my Whipple exhaust temp. indicator light start flashing. I'm cruisin' on the back streets at a solid 35mph. I shouldn't be seeing this thing acting up.
Does anyone care to guess what's going on? Bad catalytic converter? Bad O2 sensor? Something more?
Again, the engine is purring.
my guess would be an 02 reading that the pcm and whipple computer doesn't like. could be a bad 02 or something else causing the 02 to read lean.
you need to get a scan tool on there and see what they are reporting, if just one is not switching or reading funny then you cna swap it with the other one and see if the problem changes sides. if it swaps sides with the 02 then it is the 02. if not then it is something else.
I have recently noticed idle surge when I've started the engine cold. In addition, the tranny has been holding in first too long when cold. I am aware of the tranny heat-up programming, but this was above and beyond the normal cold running hold. It's amazing how important a little dinky sensor is in today's advanced truck engines.
Thanks for the thoughts fellas. Also, thanks to the guys at the Tune Up Clinic shop in Smyrna, GA for hooking me up.
