Default Nitrous or Turbo Setup? HELP!!!

I was about to send my 241 heads to get ported/polished and milled for the nitrous setup but i remembered that I have 317s as well, and i hear the 317s are good for boost... Can I port and polish my 317s as well if i do go boost or is it not worth it? Right now I have a ls1 with bolt ons... Dont wanna keep refilling bottle every weekend neither... Anyways what are yalls opinions?

What's your budget? If you don't want to keep re-filling bottles, sell your 241's, sell off all your nitrous stuff, use the 317's in stock form, and get yourself into a turbo setup.

Dont have the nitrous setup yet, was going to order it after i swapped the 241 heads but i was leaning towards a turbo setup instead... What heads would go best with the turbo setup? Budget is around 3k 3500 pushing it...

Stick with the 241s if they are still on the car and let'er eat! If not swap the heads out for the 317s, add ls9 gaskets, cheap ebay headstuds, and a turbo kit.

Going to be tough on that budget. Your talking using all chinese parts, all your own labor and even at that I dont think you will make it. Go nitrous.

Okay since i made up my mind last night im going turbo setup with the 241s, only going to boost up to 10-12lbs cause i dont wanna stress the ls1 too much... Im in between the borg warner 83mm or 96mm...which would be best for the ls1?

83mmturbine, you dont need too much hotside for that boost level/power.

83mm turbine's good for for 1,200 or so before it starts falling off, you'll have plenty to work with.

If your only going with 10-12lbs, $230 china Gt45 would be my vote. They seem to have a great track record. Wouldn't touch your current long block, leave the heads alone. Factory head bolts gaskets and all are just fine at your power levels. Save up for a trans/fuel/rearend. The turbo and engine are the cheap parts!

Make sure to get someone to tune it conservatively cause ls1 pistons are very weak. #7 hates boost apparently. To rich is just as bad as being lean so be careful with the tune. If it was me I would not run more than 8lbs on 93 with a stock block ls1. The ringlands are very weak and will break even if your not seeing knock, trust me. If you wanted to save yourself a future headache pick you up a JY 5.3 long block. You could sell the ls1 to help fund a better setup. My ls1 is on the engine stand right now waiting for forged internals and my l33 5.3 is still chugging along at 15psi on E85 now

An LS1 can handle boost just fine. You can say that about the tune on any LSx platform. Plenty of 700+ boosted LS1's running around out there.

Trust me... you need a new source of information. None of that is true.

Whats your 1/4 goal? It doesnt take much to run 10s these days. A guy from Jersey picked up a 99 z28 threw a plate kit on it regeared it and stalled it. Runs mid to low 10s

I wish i can go back and skip n2o all together and go turbo in the first place. I would have saved time and money and no bottles to refill. You wont regret it.
