Flex Section(s) on collector pipes
Flex Section(s) on collector pipes I am trying to decide where I would like to place flex section(s) on my collectors. I dont really like the idea of the turbo hanging off the manifolds...alot of stress going over bumps. I was thinking a flex section between each exhaust manifold and the merge just before the turbo flange. This would help with collector misalignment between the 2 manifolds and also decouple the turbo from the engine....then build a bracket to support the turbo. This would allow the engine to move relatively independent of the turbo and have no turbo weight leveraging off of them.

You're on the right track. Just be sure to buy good flex sections. They will be doing work and you don't want them failing. The cheapest you want to use is the braided outer with a stainless inner liner(non-braided).
And obviously make sure your motor mounts are in good condition.

Thanks for the reference. I have bought alot from mandrel-bends.com but never their flex sections. I was going to order my collector and exhaust plumbing from them. I will buy a couple of their flex sections as well. Good to know they are high quality.
