rod bolts
search isnt helping me much tonight for some reason
how much power can a stock bottom end 99 LS1 handle before needing to upgrade the rod bolts?
i have a full bolt on m6 camaro and just bought a D1SC to put in it. i dont want to drop the motor for new rod bolts unless i absolutely have too but id like to take it up to 15 lbs of boost too. will meth help?

The rods will bend or break before you need aftermarket rod bolts. Ive seen pics of destroyed factory rods with the bolts still holding the big end together. save yourself the time, effort, and cost and leave the stock stuff alone

No offense to the OP, what's with all these guys worrying about rod bolts? How often do we see engine failure because a rod bolt broke? Not very! Just thinking out loud. Kinda funny. Goes hand in hand with the "I need a quadruple unobtaonium roller timing set with keytonite gears." Some guys like the overkill.

thanx for the replies and no offense taken.
i was thinking along the same lines but ive been out of the scene for a few years and forgot a lot and now that im coming back around and recently bought a used D1SC i started reading up a bit and kept hearing of people swapping in new rod bolts on stock short blocks and thought i might be missing something here.
thanks again
