Default EBC Setup Prior to Dyno

Is there any way to minimize time spent on dyno messing with EBC?

I would rather not mess with WOT on roads and don't wanna race it without knowing if I have enough fuel for the air up top. Its a Eboost Street unit.

I guessed on duty cycle and left the gain zeroed out
the higher the duty cycle the faster the boost will increase per percentage change

Mine has an over boost cutoff so it wasn't possible to go farther than what I wanted
Was pretty close to the number I was shooting for boost wise, after making a pull adjust the duty cycle until you hit your target boost

The problem you'll encounter is unless the dyno can load the engine properly, it will need set on the road and dyno, then road anyway.

It should only take a couple of minutes to get it setup for each boost level anyway. 3-4 pulls either on road or dyno should be plenty to have it working right.

Its a MD and operator knows his stuff. Said I won't break 800 on his dyno.

Just sucks how EBC operate, if its reading manifold pressure, why can't I set what I want and it does what it needs to get there and hold it. Simple and what not.

It doesn't know what turbo or gate your running
No way for it to determine how much air to push back on the spring to determine x psi

Surely there's a way to make a controller that can process that and you simply ask for 20psi and it adds in duty cycle until it hits the number you ask, might have to go into business...lol

Given the technology around today, I agree that EBC's should all offer that feature.

Even if initially it still involved a "learning" aspect or mode to achieve a basic setup.

Sadly, very few do operate that way.

But it's much the same way with fuel/spark control.

You cant simply just plug a computer in and tell it you want to achieve a specific AFR and expect it to do everything with no other input at all.

They all need some sort of base to work from before they can get to that stage. Setting up the base duty cycle on your boost controller is no different.

The only downside about a fully automated setup, is boost curves might develop slower initially while it does learn the behaviour of your setup, after a few learning cycles though it should be able to fine tune and then have it's base to work from without you doing it manually.

There must be some technical reason they dont work this way though....otherwise they'd all be doing it.

If you are using an air source on top of your gates you can tune your curve very precisely before you get on a dyno.
