Default replacing turbo

Hey everybody I was gonna see if yall could help me out. I have a 98 camaro with a built ls6 with an on3 78mm turbo the car has been tuned and I've been driving it fine, but when getting into boost the turbo starts making a noise like your sticking something in a fan. I'm gonna order another 78mm turbo from them and put it on. Doing that would i need another tune or can I drive it like it is? Any help is appreciated

I don't really want to go back with the same brand turbo I was just worried about a different brand not fitting. Would a 78mm turbonetics or precision be the same size? There isn't much room for anything bigger

Those 78mm turbos are working fine for everyone else....I'm upgrading to that soon myself. I would get another 1 and be good. No need for a retune.

Yeah I've heard both good and bad. My buddy at work has had one on his mustang for a couple years now. I guess I just ended up with a bad one I haven't put more then 80 miles on the car since it's all been finished

If you swap the turbo to say a pt7675 or tc7875 you can drive it and it will be fine. You'll want to log and tweak VE and maybe timing before you going WOT. But for normal driving out of boost its fine

I would recommend figuring out what the problem is before you swap turbos. If you have an oiling issue, you don't want to ruin something 3 times as expensive.
