Default JY 4.8 build advice

newbie lurker looking for some advice on my first build. Getting back into drag racing after a short break. I use to have a Buick GN and loved it so i did some research and saw where you guys where taking stock JY 4.8/5.3 and making unreal HP with them. I have a 94 s10 i was going to put a SBC in but sold that motor. Picked up what is suppose to be a 4.8 yesterday. It has 799 heads on it .Block number 12589779. Turns over easy. That's all i know about it so far. I'd like to hit 600 hp but then i saw the Buick GN on here making 800 !? So my question is, what should i do to this motor before i shove it in the s10 ? I'm going to use the msd with megasqurit2 box .
Thanks !

If you're opening it, gap the rings to 0.028-30 and put studs on the heads, although I'd think for 600 the stock bolts will work fine, and if it is a high mile engine, you'd probably be ok without gapping rings.

Why MSD and megasquirt? Megasquirt does everything that the MSD does and far far more.

Just get a microsquirt kit for it. The rest is the mounting.

Already have the Megasquirt 2.
So I can fire the coils and injectors with the megasquirt? I must have missed that. From what I can tell this is a newer model motor and has the good heads and rods.
Thanks for the help !
