Default 2 bar map reading low

Hey guys,

I got my base tune Saturday. Incon TTi Stage 3 kit. Gen III 5.3 w/ 2002 Z06 cam in it,317 heads. Barometric pressure here was reading 29.83 when we did the base tune (PCM out of the car) and stuck it in and its reading 24.6 in Hg with the key on (car off). Its a fleabay cobalt 2 bar map sensor pn#12615136. Could this just be a Chinese knock off and is it worth it to get a different one from efi source or rockauto etc? Info would be appreciated and sites to purchase from would be even better if need be. My tuner said he could adjust the offset but you guys are the wealth of knowledge around here. He is a very reputable tuner with years of experience just covering my ****!

Thanks!

Why are you measuring it in inches of mercury? Switch over to bar and see what it reads.

Did you flash in a 2-bar operating system?

Also, make sure you are monitoring the 2-bar Map sensor as well.

I got a bad 2 bar cobalt from flea bay too.. Im pretty sure there is some knock off **** going around. The sensor we had wouldnt read anything over 125 KPA.. tossed it in the trash and went with a EFI source 3 bar and never looked back.

Thanks for the reply gents. It's reading 88 Kpa key on/engine off. I'm pretty sure it should be in the 101 Kpa range. Can this be offset in EFI live or get a new one?

Everyone that has posted in this thread has told you they are junk. Your MAP sensor is probably the single most important sensor on a boosted car. Quit being cheap and go buy a good sensor. EFISource has 3bars for $35

I agree with you 100% oscs! I'm getting an authentic AC Delco unit this week at my local dealership. $42 and i'll be done with it. I appreciate all the advice! EFI source is backordered for 2 weeks and I don't plan on going above 14psi....for now LOL!!
