Question Removing MSD 6BTM

I have a '97SS with a PTK Gen II turbo setup running a Precision T76GTSH with a MSD 6BTM with timing control and Blaster coil with an optispark. The new opti that was put in during the install and tune by the shop died after only about 500 miles. I found they never even hooked up the vacuum lines . Anyways, I don't have the funds to go to a coil per cylinder setup yet, so I'm putting on an MSD cap and rotor for now.

I've heard a lot that people with optis, even with blowers/turbos, should not be running ignition boxes and upgraded coils as they kill optis, and the stock setup will provide enough spark by keeping my plugs gapped in the .26-.28 range.

So, my question is, what impact will there be if I remove the MSD 6BTM? I know how to simply bypass the box on the ignition side by putting in a couple wires. There are more connections though. Can I just bypass the box on the ignition side? If I do, are any of the timing controls still in place?
