First sympton - #8 misfired at low rpm, but not enough to set codes unless it idled a very long time. Turned out the installer didn't push the plug wire firmly on, and on a trip to the track it came off altogether. The coil terminal was so badly arc'd I had to replace the coil and wire. no biggie.
The car still had a lo rpm misfire that went away as soon as rpm's climbed. Winter of '03 Reckless was giving me a hand changing plugs. #8 would not go in. The verdict - when the 'professional' put in the tr6 plugs, he cross-threaded #8
(of all plugs). We took off the manifold and over the course of a couple days I devised a way to fix the threads without taking the head off. Reckless helped me install the manifold and install the plug which went in perfectly. For the hell of it I A-tapped it...and the constant miss in #8 was cured.I do virtually all my own work now
I take my coil packs off to do number 8,,,plus I got skinny arms. Hopefully the little shield will help out. Gary
