Default ati superdampener, question

Bought a ATi superdampener for my vortech install.

Bolting all the parts together, inspecting everything getting ready for the install.

Got a question, blower crank pulley, to dampener, 3 or 6 bolts

if it should be 6 it appears the previous owner stripped out 3 of the 6 bolts that hold the blower pulley on. Everyother one, so it looks like a balancer remover was used, and pulled the threads out clean.

Will i be ok with using every other one, or should i spring for a new balancer

Three should be threaded and three not threaded. the three non-threaded holes is where the A/C pulley bolts on, the a/c pulley is threaded and longer bolts go through the front ad thread into it. The three threaded holes should be what you are using to hold the blower pulley on if you arent using the a/c pulley.

At least thats how the last couple ATI LS1 balancers I had here were..

So i need 3 long bolts, and 3 short ones for the vortech crank pulley?

guess i'll be calling ATI tomorrow and trying to get the bolts tomorrow

You can't add the bolts unless you add the ac pulley. The ac pulley is threaded for the three that don't have threads.
The standard gen 1 sb has driven many a blower pulley on three bolts, you will be fine.

I got an ATI dampener for my ATI blower. So there's 4 main peices. The hub, the a/c pully(if you have it), the crank pully, and the S/C pully. The a/c pully goes on the inside(closest to the block) of the hub. Install the hub on the crank and then you screw the crank pully into the hub with the 6 smaller recessed screws. (The a/c pully has nothing screwed into it yet at this point). Then you line up your S/C pully and run the 3 longer bolts through the unthreaded holes of the s/c pully, through the unthreaded holes on the crank pully and up, and into the threaded holes in the a/c pully. Least that's how I understand it.

Good luck.

Thats correct Mike, if you arent using the a/c pulley then 3 bolts will work fine.

They are just grade 8 3/8" bolts, just make sure they arent too long. I forget if they are course or fine thread but those bolts are nothing special..

thanks guys, that explains everything i need.

great to know they're just grade 8 bolts.. i'll get them local tomorrow

and i have AC without it... i would have build a turbo and not worry about a blower.

Ryan.
