Default CRAZY a/f ratios please HELP

Ok guys, 2000 Camaro SS, stock ls1, T76 turbonetics, AEM UEGO wide band recently installed. The other day, it started when I did a burnout, dumping the clutch off the 2 step (Hey, last day of school, had to show off) My problem is the readings are very erratic. It will be dead rich, then go dead lean, back and forth, rarely is there any in between reading. I haven't been WOT since then for obvious reasons especially with a stock motor. The thing is, it feels fine. If it wasn't for the reading on the gauge, I would think everything is normal. Could it be a faulty gauge/sensor? It has been on my dash in the sun, as the face has wrinkled a little, which I am disappointed with coming from AEM. As far as exhaust leaks, I removed my system, so straight down pipe right now. I want to see how it does at WOT, but when the gauge reads 18.0:1+ i'm afraid to. Any tips/advice/answers would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks, Logan

How do the plugs looks? Could be false lean because it's so rich. The ping back and forth could be the ecu trying to correct itself. Also, did this start after you dropped the exhaust? How much pipe is after the O2?

I pulled a plug and it looked very good. It started before the exhaust was removed. I would say at least 2 feet of pipe after the o2 sensor, which is threaded into the bung that came on the down pipe that was supplied in the turbo kit, so I know it can't be the placement of the sensor.

If the plugs look good and you say it runs fine, I'd have lean towards the display. If it was the sensor and the AFRs were swinging that far, you'd feel it in the car and it'd be running pretty bad. There must be a wire from the sensor though that runs the display, so I guess the sensor could still be suspect in that respect.

Mine do the same thing for split of seconds on 2step and I think that is normal.

Are you saying that it just went crazy on the 2 step? Or it is now constantly swinging from fuel lean to rich? 2 step readings are going to be inaccurate and all over the place.

Sounds like a dead wideband sensor

It does it while driving, sorry for not making that clear. While driving, every few seconds it will go from dead rich, to dead lean. I haven't been on the 2step since it started as I'm afraid of breaking something

probably something wrong with the wideband. if you're part throttle and the car spikes lean, you'd feel it for sure. would feel like a misfire.

log your STFT when doing normal driving. If they are swinging heavily, +/- 20 or more and it follows what your W/B is doing, then I'd say you have a problem. Also if you STFT are swinging that much you will feel it when you are driving.

If you have the ability to log the car (Like hptuenrs or EFI live), I would just examine the pulse widths at the points where you are noticing the dramatic swing. If the pulsewidths are not swinging at those points, then yeah I would quetion your sensor or gauge.
