It doesn't matter how you activate the relay, as long as you activate it. You could wire it to a dome light button if you wanted to. Its irrelevant.

Yup, I follow you - I just wonder if the clutch switch is an interrupted 12V signal, or interrupted ground or whatever. I suck at wiring/electricithingamajigs.

I ain't that bad - thinned out a Van Harness and built a harness from scratch for my old BMW, keeping the gauges working and etc back in the day. Just takes me a hell of a lot longer!
