Default LQ9 Turbo question

Hello!

I do swap engine on my Volvo 240. Engine LQ9 (6.0 L), Wiseco pistons, CR 8.8-8.9, std 317 heads, may be std cam or LS cam, HD springs, ARP all spuds, Compstar rods, 4l80e, std intake, may be LS intake. And some boost...

Goal 600-700 HP for street and anytime drag.

Now I need to choose a turbo for my purposes. I have access to a variety of turbo Holset, so the first thing I choose among them.

At first I wanted to put one turbo Holset HX 55 (Comp wheel 71/98mm, turbo wheel 77/86mm, housing 22cm2, about 1.69 AR, T4). But it is believed that this turbo is small for this engine. Therefore, I consider the options to use either one turbo HOLSET Hx 60 (Comp wheel 75mm, Turbo wheel 86mm or comp wheel 80/113mm, turbo wheel 86/97mm, Housing 22,25,32 (T6) cm2) or two Hx 40 (Comp wheel 60/86mm, Turbo wheel 65/75 or 67/75mm, housing 14,16,18 cm2, AR 1.05, 1.2, 1.37 T3 and T4).

What is the size of the compressor and turbo Wheels are needed for this power and my goals. And what size turbo housing? I plan to use fuel pump, and the boost in the range of 1 bar, I suppose. Advise please.

I like their price ratio, quality and performance. I'm more interested in what size turbо is necessary for my purposes. the manufacturer is not important.

The HX 60 with the 75mm compressor, and the 86 turbine should meet your goal. The reason Holset turbos are not popular here on this site with this community is that most of us are struggling for space, and they are about the largest turbos out there for their physical size. Not as easy to fit them into a car, they weigh more and often require more bracing/support than others. The Precision, Turbonetics, and thier Chinese offsets like the On3 and the VS racing are more popular. Turbos from these companies that make similar power to your Holset weight about 22-25 lbs. That Holset I think runs about 45-50 lbs. They are designed primarily for diesel trucks where weight is of little importance, but long term durability is very important.

Thanks for the advice! What housing (A/R) size do I need for this engine? And approximately, on what RPMs would appear positive boost, and on what a full boost?

About the size and weight, I agree, but the purchase of such turbines as a Precision, Turbonetics not suitable for my budget. In our country, they are quite expensive.

I also wanted to ask about the torque converter. I have a new standard torque converter with stall speed of 2200 rpm. Enough for me? If not, what Stall speed is preferable? Or do I need to order a torque converter with a higher stall speed? In general, to what power can use with a standard torque converter and transmission 4l80e? I have a transmission from the Chevrolet Express 3500 2001 model year.

BR, Alex!

I got the opportunity to buy at a good price new turbine Borg Warner S475 T6 1.32 AR (75 comp wheel, 88mm turbo). Оn what RPMs would appear positive boost, and on what a full boost 14psi?
whether the turbine is suitable for my purposes?
Who knows its approximate weight?
