Default LY6 On3 Turbo Question!

Hello peeps new to the forum here but i have a few questions for you boost gurus out there, Basically I have an LY6 6.0 motor I swapped into my lifted 99 Silverado. There has been some mild work done to The motor such as boring it .030 over, flat top pistons ( no VR), all new main bearings, balanced and polished crank, a .225/.230 @ .50; .615/.629 Cam 110 LSA, LS7 lifters, dual springs, hardened PRs, high volume oil pump, valve work, l92 heads milled about .015-.020 w/ ARP bolts and some Other small things done. I also have a fully built stage 6 tranny with 3K stall if that matters. But my question to you guys is with The workThat is stated above be something I should worry about if I possibly go with The on 3 Performance Turbo kit for my Truck? Am I running too high of a compression motor to put any type of boost on? All honest answers would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

The compression isn't so bad, just a tick over stock. The biggest issue I'd have with the engine you have is the cam. It wouldn't be the best for a turbo setup. The overlap is more than ideal, and that cam will spool the turbo a little late. I'd probably swap to like the LJMS stage 2 turbo cam while doing the turbo install. Your cam will work, its just not ideal. A factory cam may even work better on a turbo motor. You may want to consider running E85 or go with a meth injection kit.

You can run high compression with a turbo, you just need to give it appropriate fuel. I know that in some of the race classes that limit turbo size, they use very high compression engines. That's because the only way to gain more power, is to gain efficiency, because airflow is limited by the best compressor wheel you can get, and still meet class rules. Even if you don't go E85 or meth, you will need to pull timing out of it and run the best fuel you can find, 93 octane or such, and you will be boost limited by knock. However you can still have a wicked gain before you hit this limit, probably a couple hundred HP.

I see where your coming from, mainly did this cam for lower end torque. IF Turbo isn't The way to go right now, do you have any other tips to gain a substantial difference in HP? I also forgot to mention I am running The factory LY6 injectors with a new fuel pump but it is not a higher pressure pump.

I think Turbo is the way to go, just change the cam and run E85 or meth!

I have a few E85 locations around here but a meth kit sounds pretty cool. Ive looked on TSP for some turbo cams and no luck, do you have any cam recommendations/ part #s, id like to stick to TSP as they know me well over there.
