There are plenty of better combinations out there than what is in generic kits. A lot of the stroker kits use the 6.125" and all the lazy people just use the same rod out of convenience.
By increasing the length of the connecting rod, you end up decreasing the height of the piston. A shorter piston generally has less mass. Less mass is more often than not considered to be a good thing.

I see. Well apparently my machine shop is like the bee's knees. So he might be able to weigh in on it. Do they get better deals on parts than I would if I ordered it online through like summit?
