Default Garrett TV6502 worth installing?

I just picked up a TV6502 off a buddy of mine. Cant really find any information on it except that it was used on Detroit 471's. Wondering if anyone has any knowledge on them or know where to find some info on it. I'd like to know what the flange is and the size of it. I know very little about turbos so any knowledge would be appreciated.

I added a picture cuz why the hell not.

Measure compressor and turbine wheel inducers and exducers with calipers and also look for any stampings on both housings. With this information, it can be somewhat estimated based on other turbocharger data if its suitable for your power goals. Do it and post it up here and you will get a lot of responses.

I took the best measurements that I could.

Flange opening: ~2.35"x3.5"
Flange bolt holes: ~2.8"x4.5"
Bolt holes measure across the opening: 5.25

intake inducer is approx: 2.6"
exhaust inducer is approx: 3.25"

Stamped on the inlet discharge is .60 and on the exhaust inlet is .84

Stamped on the intake housing is several things including:

4423-19 "N" M-24-the "N" looks stamped in recently, other numbers are clearly cast into the casing. The mentioned markings are close together and in a line but not necessarily supposed to go together.

Also on the intake housing is 1/6, L, & B- the "1/" has been stamped recently but the rest are cast into the casing.

Hopefully this is enough information, Thanks in advance for the help!

You can see most of the markings in the picture, also the exhaust housing has some kind of heat wrap on it with "HTI Jan 07 2003, 23513686"

Good work. Based on my turbo experience, you can "roughly" estimate how the turbo may perform based on the physical measurements. However, the design of the wheel will dictate exactly how much it flows at what boost pressure and required turbo speed for that size engine (AKA compressor map). BUT...from a global standpoint, this turbo is relatively small....The compressor is not too attractively large but what would save you is the size of the turbine, which is decently large. When you say inducer, you mean the exducer on the turbine right? Technically the small part of the turbine wheel is the exducer because the flow path goes INTO the large portion of the turbine wheel and OUT of the small portion. So inducer and exducer are in reference to the flow path on each side. Compressor side the flow is opposite so the small diameter is the inducer

The exhaust housing is pretty small, and compressor housing is marginal. My conclusion is it would be a great turbo for lower power goals, say 500-550whp (<10-12 psi of boost) and will be better suited for the 4.8 or 5.3 platform.
