gearing

Just wanting second opinions... Building the basic run of the mill turbo 5.3 ( haven't got too far into the motor yet) , turbo 400, Ford 9, 31 inch tire. 67 Chevy short bed truck so about 4000#. Mainly street driven. 3.89 gear sound about right? A lot of the stuff I've read seems to point towards a higher gear but a 31 tire kills a lot of the 3.89

I am running a 3.42 gear with a 26 inch tire and I feel like that is too much gear. My next set of tires will be atleast 28 inches to offset some of the gear.

I had a 3.08 with a 28 behind my turbo 5.3/th400. It ran great and cruised good, but hung on the converter a little too much for my liking. I changed to a 3.31 but haven't driven the car yet.
