Remove head gasket How you guys cleaning your blocks from the old gasket. Its an iron block?? The heads are aluminum but getting them refreshed so machine shop will take care of the heads. I scrapped as much as i could to get off but the last of it can't get without using sandpaper or scotch brite. but i was told you can't use those on the block. They where MLgaskets.

On a iron block I think you would be more than fine using oven cleaner. I used it on my aluminum block but just for very short periods.
Stock head gaskets are absolutely miserable to scrape off !
