Default STS PCV on lt1

I have an sts turbo kit (ballin' on a budget) I am installing on my lt1 94 trans am, and the kit came off a ls motor. I am having issues with the PCV set up. I removed my PCV valve at the intake, however, the STS switch assembly will not directly fit in the intake. Also the metal pipe coming from the throttle body that connects to the PCV at the intake is too long if the switch would fit anyway. I was trying to go off the directions, but I noticed that its for an Ls engine. My PCV vent hose is on the passenger side and the PCV is on the drivers side, so I am a little confused as to how to set this up. I thought about ditching the PCV set up all the way and doing a custom one, but I am also confused as to how to go about hooking the PCV vent up if I run a catch can from the intake to the throttle. Any advice would be great! except trash talk

I am already vested in this system and really don't want to do a ls swap or h/c at the moment. I am just looking to build my current set up for fun not looking for crazy power and all the likes. I don't mind taking the time to learn ( that is why I am doing this anyway).

Back in 2008, I put a TC76 (front mount) on my 96 Z28. Jon (Lt1boost/Realquick) built my hotside but I did everything else on it.

I'm unfamiliar with your STS setup but the effort to perform what you want done in regards to the PCV (pulling a vacuum on the blowby gasses present in the intake when the engine is not in boost) is simple.
  • Find a spot in your cold side where you can introduce a nipple. Drill the hole, then have a nipple welded there. I would not use anything that could come loose and be pulled into the intake tract such as a threaded solution which might come loose.
  • Run a tube off that nipple to a conventional PCV (one way valve) oriented so that when the engine is below boost level, air can flow thru it.
  • On the other end of the PCV valve, run a tube that goes to your catch can.
  • On the other side of the catch can, run a tube from that nipple to your valve cover(s) or intake manifold

With that in place, when the engine is below boost/pulling a vacuum, air will be drawn through the valve covers/manifold, to the catch can(which should trap/capture most of the oil mist), then to your PCV(passing thru it) and be drawn into your intake tract. Once the engine goes into boost, the pressure in the intake tract goes positive, closing the PCV valve.

The only addition you might need for the above is someway to relieve the crankcase pressure when you are in boost. That can be done...
  • Inexpensively - put a valve cover breather with an air filter on it.
  • Expensively - put a catch can with an integral air filter on it.
