timing with l/c motor and mileage

timing with l/c motor and mileage I was thinking today..can we raise our cruising timing above stock since we are running lower compression ratio. I thought this might get some mileage back. I checked my mileage and with 85% hwy and some WOT blasts..I only got 14mpg with the 3.23. I think my c/r is 8.75:1 so maybe some timing might help. Any ideas...experiences..etc?
