Help w/ Choosing PCM Controller
Car is a 96 fbody, forged lt1, twin 72mm turbos, intercooled, plus a t56 and a 24x LS pcm conversion already there. As a matter of fact, the pcm still holds a tune from my previous supercharged setup on 60lb injectors that was dyno tuned by a local shop using HPT. So maybe that will help get me started? Only thing changed is the move to turbo, meth, intercooler and bigger 120 lb injectors from 60. Primary purpose is as a street car.
I do want independence from constantly returning to a shop for tunes and would like to learn this aspect of the car. Although I have zero tuning experience. But will still utilize a shop as needed.
Alky control system is in place. I still need boost controller and widebands, and 3 or 4 bar map sensor. I now know most of the pros about MS3, like how it has provisions for the add ins. I'm just not sure if HPtuner is that much more unfriendly for newbs like me to learn, than MS3 would be. Does hpt manage cars at 800 rwhp and above well? I'd prefer not to lose my stock gauges, but I don't think Megasquirt has developed this yet.
Most dont seem to understand how to do that so just get rid of gauges etc...which seems a bit odd really.
But it's really up to you to decide what any ecu might offer you, and what tuning options it might open up for you as to whether you need it or not. And of course what local support or tuning you can access for it
I think I know my answer is gonna be what it has been from the start, go to a standalone. I just want to know for sure if hpt should be removed from the equation.
I'll be keeping the t56.

this is o you can do a standalone to control engine and trans then the stock ecm and bcm can control the dash, abs, etc.
