Default LT1 BOOST question!

Hey guys,

i have a 355 LT1 with AFR heads and a 223/230 .565 112LSA cam. Others specifics about the engine are in another thread of mine called LT1+boost.

long story short, I have a Procharger D1SC with a FMIC, 3” aluminum piping with T bolts and Red race Bypass valve. I have a 7.65” crank pulley and a 4.50” supercharger pulley (12rib). Bob at brute speed suggested this set up for 8lbs of boost! I spun the car up to 6,000rpm and I only hit 5lbs of boost. It seems the boost got up there fairly quickly then plateaued. I sent bob a video of me pushing and pulling on the belt to show tightness. He said he thinks it’s tight enough. And I used Procharger ls instructions on how to tighten the belt.

I was hooing for 8lbs and kind of upset it’s only hitting 5lbs. I am fairly certain I don’t have a leak. Not positive about the belt slip but it seems the belt it’s tight. Is it possible I need a smaller blower pulley? Or where else can I search?

Greg, is 6000 rpm all the higher you are going to take it? If you don't have any belt slippage it should make more boost at 6400 to 6500 than it does at 6000 rpm. The air filter can also be a restriction if it isn't large enough. It may come down to you needing a smaller pulley to see 8 psi but with your combination you should be seeing more boost if you take the rpm up higher. Bob

This should be in the LT1 section, but like Bob said you are not spinning high enough.

An AFR headed LT1 with built bottom end and that cam should be spinning to at least 6500rpm.

Unfortunately I did ask it in the LT1 forum and didn’t get much response, sorry. I’ll see what I can figure out and maybe ill have to get another pulley. It seemed to level
out around 5k and not rise up to 6k which made me lay off the throttle.

Thanks for the help.

I think it's fine here in the FI section the lt1 section is pretty dead especially for boost related questions.
