Default Supercharger differences

I know absolutely nothing about superchargers blowers etc first off. I'm curious what's the pros and cons of say a Magnuson whipple style verse procharger. Having been around my share of LS stuff I've always been super impressed watching the guys drifting at the LS fest especially the blown cars. Obviously either style is expensive but I'm curious whats the major differences and why you may choose one over the other. Please share your opinions and experiences.

I obviously wasn't thinking when i typed that, lol. With that pointed out which type say a Magnuson verse a procharger is better or more suited to to a particular application?

Here my layman's understanding of the difference:

The Magnacharger works great on the street as a blower with instant boost and low end torque. The one I rode in feel like just as responsive as a normally aspirated engine. It had massive torque down low.

The ProCharger is more of a serious street/race supercharger. Typically superior air flow in the upper rpm ranges.

A friend had a Procharger with a blow off valve and throttle switch. His Procharger never built any boost just riding around because the blow off valve was open until he jabbed the throttle to the floor. In normal driving it was about as responsive as a stock LS1. It didn't have massive low end torque on tap. When he floored it, the throttle switch then closed the blow off valve and it built boost.. It was fantastic power braking at stop lights or from a dig at the track. Less so from a roll unless you wanted to ride the brakes and floor it.

That's my limited experience

In a impromptu stock vs stock street race from a roll the Magncharger would get the jump on the ProCharger, but the ProCharger would catch and pass him.

Positive Displacement Superchargers (Magnuson, Harrop, Whipple, Kenne Bell, etc) are badass because its instant power and torque. And as mentioned by "99 Black Bird T/A", the Centrifugal SC'er (Procharger, Vortech) is said to have better top end performance, but that all has to building the proper combo. The line of SC'ed Corvettes have no trouble making top end power. Mercedes also uses only Pos Dis SC'ers and they also have badass top end....actually a modded luxury E63 AMG with an upgraded SC'er is FASTER in the 1 mile top end run than the new 2019 SC'ed Vette. New Camaro modded Heffner just went 204mph. So top end is perfectly fine if its built right. The worlds fastest production 1/4 mile car (DEMON) uses Positive Displacement and all other exotic and performance production cars use Positive Displacement SC'ers. I don't know of any production car that uses centrifugal SC'ers.

And its really nice with the Pos Dis SC'er......for install. You remove the intake and drop it on and bolt it down.....thats it. Very clean and easy. No pipes running all over the place. And you can make 900-1,000 RWHP with whats available for LS engines right now. And NO, its not that expensive....no more than the other SC'er set ups.

Nothing wrong with Centrifugal.....but when I personally weigh the pros and cons....its a no brainer to go with Pos Dis...especially for a street/strip car. But if someone wants a certain amount of power that the Pos Dis SC'er cannot offer for the LS engine right now......you have to go with a large Centrifugal SC'er. And those larger Centifugal SC'ers are FRIGGIN LOUD as hell just sitting still idling.....unlike the quiet Pos Dis SC'ers.

So its up to each person what they want and what they don't want......
