Default Opinions on whether a turbo needs rebuilt

To not make a huge long story, my situation is I had a scavenge pump fail (piece of metal jammed the gears causing no oil flow). So the oil backed up and eventually came out the exhaust. A huge smoke show and oil all down the side of my car. Oil also exited the turbo and leaked down the merge pipe. Fast forward I have replaced the scavenge pump gears and tested multiple times that it is in working order. Pulled the line off the pan and ran the car to test flow.

My question, one do you guys think the turbo will need rebuilt? I have read experiences where some say just bring the turbo to heat a few time and it can seal back up. Also how long until the oil that was leaked will be burned/ pushed out of the exhaust? I ran the car for maybe five minutes last night and had oil coming out of the downpipe. I expected smoke for awhile but wondering how long for actual oil? LAst and final question this time running the car I actualy saw oil come out of the waste gate discharge pipe. This seemed very odd so I figured I would post it up and see ls1tech had to say.

Thanks,

I would expect it to smoke like hell until all the oil burned out but still getting oil coming out of it says rebuild
could try to remove it, and clean all the oil out of the exhaust preturbo (wastegate had oil?) and clean the exhaust housing and downpipe first then try it one more time

I was thinking this too. Clean it all but I guess my hold up is still seeing oil coming out the dp, down the merge pipe and what not. I guess even having the oil backing up as it did I jsut cant see the exhaust still having oil in it after running idling it a few times. Figured it would of been pushed out.
