Default Autometer Electric Boost Gauge Issue

i have a autometer cobalt 6159 electronic boost gauge. It reads vacuum and boost. The meter was working fine then all of a sudden it was reading 10lbs of boost at idle. Then would move up from there when the engine was revved. I called autometer and they said my MAP sensor wasn’t working right. So I ordered a new MAP sensor and put it in. Now it reads 0 at idle and then even at 2,000 rpm it shows 5lbs of boost and I can tell my bypass valve is not even closed yet.

Is there anything else I can look for? I have it “T” into a vacuum line off my intake (LT1) but the line comes from my intake, T for my BOV then T for my boost gauge. Is this possibly the issue?

Might want to check the vacuum line to the ByPass valve to make sure it hasn't dry rotted on either end. If recirculating check the hose connections.

Which bypass valve? If a ProFlow dependent on age the bladder inside dries out and can rupture. It can be easily replaced and is inexpensive.

If a ProFlow, there are at least three versions, so make sure you get the correct replacement. If it is pre-2006 it's time to upgrade. Mine literally fell apart at the linkage. The linkage on version two can bind because of wear. It appears the linkage on version three has been redesigned.

It’s the red race bypass valve ... I hooked another vacuum line up to it. It’s reading 7-8 inches of vacuum at idle. This seems low doesn’t it? All the lines are brand new!

If its working off a map sensor, 7 or 8 would be 14-16 inches of vac.
