Turbo selection for 427
Turbo selection for 427 I have a 98 camaro that had a 408 with an s488/96 1.32 weights around 3700 race weight and ran best of 8.69 at 158. I recently blew up the 408 and I'm having a 427 dart shp pro short block being made.
I'm wondering if there is an s400 style turbo big enough to make this car run 7s with the 427? I know there is a 100mm turbine wheel but I think the 427 is to big for that but not sure. I'm trying to not have to change the turbo piping but if there isn't any options I'll probably just go twin turbo.

I know thats what i really need to do is get a gt55 but i was just trying to see if there is anything out there so i dont have to change up the turbo kit.

I'm contemplating a 427 build myself with a big single.
Currently run a 6.0 and a billet s485 but bent a few rods. SHP Pro with 6 bolt 235's is on my list...
My next turbo will be a Garrett unit over another Borg.

I would agree that a motor like that needs a garret as well, however, an S491 with the 100mm turbine would be badass at significantly less cost as well. That what I would go with if you "must" stay with the S400 chassis. Borg makes S500 chassis units that would be more of an apples to apples comparison to the GT55 stuff as well. Just call up Bewley and talk it thru with him or Jose, they are your borg specialists IMO.
