Default wastegate diaphram issues

second time this has happened on only 6#, seems it’s not clamping down on the diaphragm. Anyone seen this? Diaphragm is undamaged every time, works good for awhile then does it again. Any fixes?

i have no idea what it’s a clone of haha. I’m not sure I could do the welding wire, it’s a bitch the way it is. I considered very very light silicone smeared around the edge to help hold it but idk

I wonder if I put a small spacer there between the stem seat and the diaphram And push the silicone up and get a better bite when i tighten it down

Looks like a wyntom gate. Never had a problem with one. You can use a metal ring already stated. I don’t think rtv will help if it’s not clamping on the diaphram. Dumb question but are you installing the diaphram right?

spacing the diaphram up it down won’t do anything. It’s the distance between the two machined aluminum halves that pintch the diaphram to hold it and seal it. You gotta add thickness to one side to give it more clamping bite.

I’m pretty sure I put it back together wrong last time. I took both gates apart, cleaned the m, made sure diagram was seated correctly, and reinstalled. Pressure tested them with air above and below the diaphragm to 30#, no leaks and no issues. Hopefully that cures it but I have two spares in the car now.
