Default Marman Flange...

Stumbled on a MARMAN flange while on ebay. The original design was done in the 30's by Zeppo Marx. Used in areospace and supposed to not leak like Vbands. Might be worth looking at for turbo builds.

Someone else on here was talking about how Marmans are better than v-bands, so a friend and I bought some for his downpipes to try them out. I didn't realize until they showed up that they use graphite rings to seal. So, that's a disadvantage versus v-bands; you still have to buy disposable gaskets. Otherwise, they are easy to work with. They are more tolerant to minor misalignment than v-bands and with the included graphite rings they seem to seal just fine. I forgot to take pictures, but they also seem like they would create some turbulence at each flange since they don't mantain an consistent diameter inside the pipe. I'm still not sure I would choose them over v-bands for anything.

Do you have any pics Doug? I am considering buying Marmons for my latest build, never used them.
