Default Glazed #2 plug

Been running 10 psi on the car in my signature. I was at about 95 percent duty cycle with 95 lb/hr injectors and want to run more boost. I decided to send my Magnafuel 4301 off to be upgraded to 4303, change the pulley out to get me 11-12 psi, and change my plugs from tr6 to br7ef. Motor runs good 11.4 afr (gas scale, fuel is E70) and 17 peak timing doesn’t burn oil or coolant no smoke.

All plugs look great except #2 was a light tarnish glossy finish on the porcelain. Looked wet, but wasn’t. This would lead me to believe it’s too hot, but why only this plug?

I was going to colder plugs anyway was the reason for pulling them just curious what people think would cause only this hole to do it.

What fuel pressure? That seems awfully high IDC for a 95lb injector at that low of boost. It could be too hot on that cylinder only if that injector isn't flowing like the rest of them.

I run 43.5 base boost referenced I’m out of pump. They say a 4301 is done near 600 rwhp on E85 so I’m going to a 4303 pump.

My injectors are flow matched to within one percent, but I did put the higher flowing ones in the rear. Makes sense weaker injectors in front cylinders maybe that cylinder is a little leaner. My wideband is on the drivers side bank. Maybe a good thing I decided to go colder on the plugs and maybe if I’m not at 95 percent duty after the pump it will not be an issue.

Can you swap the wideband to the pass side and see if there's any differences? I typically recommend non-projected TR7's for anything over 550whp as i've never had the drivability issues that some seem to mention. Any reason you're not running 4 bar of FP?

Magnafuel recommended lower fuel pressure so that’s what I went with and deatschwerks provided me the data for that pressure. I’ve got the br7ef plugs in it now, but I’m waiting on the fuel pump rebuild from Magnafuel. They offer a rebuild service on their pumps so I’m going from the 4301 to 4303. They don’t provide flow rate data for their pumps so all I have is the 4301 is rated at 1500 NA at carb pressure while the 4303 is rated for 2000. Not real useable data, but I’ve seen people make 900 rwhp on E85 with a single 4303 while the limit of the 4301 is about 600 on e85.

Hopefully just at the limit of the injectors with that one being the weekest and the new pump will give me the head room so it will not be an issue. I’d imagine at 12 psi I’ll be near the limit of the ls1 anyway, but I’d rather it reach its mechanical limit rather than an error that could of been avoided.

The E70/85 will certainly give you more cushion to keep it alive.

I love the ethanol. I was just shocked when I pulled that plug. At first I thought it was wet, but it wasn’t. I had a couple restrictions I improved upon also while I wait for the pump. I had a hard 90 -10 right before the pre filter that Magnafuel recommended I change to a hose bend 90 so I did that. I also had a -6 fuel rail cross over that I switched to -8. So now I have -10 from tank to pump and -8 from pump to regulator and stock feed as return.

Eta: fuel rails are run in series with regulator after the rails.
