Holley pan and dominator ecu, two questions.
Now to the ecu, since the box is potted and not serviceable what makes this a number one choice for most people? Yes serious question, not bashing just need to know why its the number one choice for most.
The Holley software is pretty user friendly..... and price point is good! Good marketing probably helps too

I run the HP on n/a cars and Dominator on the turbo setups..... It works great for me. This year finally getting the traction control to work. Boost by gear/time is awesome.
I'd love to run Motec.... but I ain'ts gots da moola for that haha

Been looking at the motec briefly also, not enough to narrow down a decision for a comparison between the Holley. Yes to the marketing, helps Holley extort the extra $$$ lol
Nothing cheap about these builds, any way you cut that pie it adds up very fast. I wouldn't complain that much but after being ripped off a couple times funds are tight, haven't recovered from it yet. I cant afford to do things twice anymore, save a dollar here but cost you three down the road.

As for the Dominator ECU, download the software and you will understand why people use it. It is intuitive and easy to use.
Over New Years I was visiting a buddy and he had just gotten a Motec for his Radical race car. Talk about an overly engineered, not intuitive, complicated piece of software...no thanks.

I haven't looked over the Motec software but did with the Holley which seems user friendly. The issue is non serviceability of it which kinda scares me, big hit to take for a two cent resistor.

The only thing Holley has done that bothers me is charging to unlock the traction control, As long as they leave at that I'll keep buying their products, They start charging to unlock other features and I will look at other options.
Being potted is to protect the ECU but probably also to help protect Holley's intellectual property. They aren't repairable but I rarely hear of anyone having a unit go bad to the point that it can't be repaired via software.
I thought I fried one of mine when I did some work under the hood and didn't realize that I pinched a 12v output causing a dead short. The truck wouldn't start and the ECU wouldn't boot even after finding the short, I was able to reflash it and get it working again.
