370 turbo build questions

Default 370 turbo build questions

Hey guys so I’m building a 370 turbo build with stock crank and forged rods and pistons my question is what’s the best compression for the engine I should run. I would like to know if it’s possible for it to be some what higher since it’s a budget build and I gotta save up for the turbo kit and for it not to be a complete dog off boost My goal with that car is 7-800 hp to the wheels and a 1000hp on kill high boost thru a auto mostly gonna be a street car not much track. Can you recommend me what style pistons to use and static compression to try to get the best of out of my build. E85 is the fuel I will be running

On e85 10.5 to 11.5 is doable. Tuning window of safety just get narrower the higher the compression.

10.5-11.5 will be okay with 20psi?

Figured I'd jump in here too! Lets say your running 12cc domes and are somewhere in the neighborhood of 12.5:1 compression with standard MLS gaskets. How much boost could you throw on it with E85 and methanol injection? What's the thickest MLS head gasket you could run on something like that with plans to run 10-15psi?

I personally have built a few engines running 11.5 and over 20 pounds. It works but the tune has to be good.

With 12.5, e85 and meth you in uncharted territory for me. Im gonna do 11.5 and 28 pounds soon on my new engine thats coming together using e85 and meth pre turbo injection.

I'm coming up with 11.35 when I use a 4.10 bore .070 thick gasket. Just not sure if that thick of a gasket will work with boost but my guess is that it would be fine.

I think that will be ok. It just makes a larger quench area so it can be more knock sensitive possibly. Most likely you wont even notice.
