Default Turbo guys running Terminator X

What are you using your I/O for? Do you wish you went with the Dominator instead, or is the Terminator X enough? From what I understand, the TermX comes with a 1bar MAP sensor inside the ecu, so adding a 3bar MAP takes an input right off the bat. Is that correct?

No there is a plug in the harness for a gm style map. This is how I’m planning on running I/o on my x.
In
1. flex fuel
2. dome pressure (boost control)
3 .transbrake/2step activation
4. speed

out
1. 2nd fuel pump
2. Boost control (Mac valve)
3. Not used yet
4. Not used yet

currently

ins: flex, split off the MAP sensor for "dome", 2 step, trans line pressure

out boost controller

would I go back and get a dominator? probably not, this thing is plenty for a 9 second car and almost perfect price-wise

do I wish I had more I/O's? yeah of course

The Terminator is much like the Holley HP. I think it works great and haven't really found a spot where I've really "needed" more I/O. That said I still prefer the Holley HP unit to the Terminator since it's not as limited in other aspects.

I can trigger the fan, shift light, boost control, two step, water pump, etc off those I/O. You can configure safeties like boost cuts in the software itself without using an I/O, but you can setup a coolant pressure sensor on those inputs for further data.

Things like fuel/oil pressure, MAP, fuel pump, IAT, etc are already on the harness so they don't count towards the optional I/O. Some of the Holley screens now can accept I/O as well further expanding your options.

Something that intrigued me was the ability of the dominator to run low impedance injectors. Low impedance injectors are way cheaper. Just another thought to throw in the mix.

Nope... DBW is for the birds, I wouldn't want it even with a Dominator or X Max.

I don't agree. DBW is one of the best things I ever did. It made part throttle driving much better and cleaned things up a bit.

Wait until a pedal or throttle body dies, or throttle hangs for no apparent reason. ***** terrible in a big power car and Ive seen the Holleys have errors in multiple cars. I think a cable is actually smoother and more in tune with what my foot is actually doing to the pedal. I just hate any sort of “translation” in what I want, hence why I like manual transmissions as well.

Inputs:
1. VSS
2. Dome pressure sensor (3.5 bar)

Outputs:
1. Fans
2. Second fuel pump
3. Boost control "fill" solenoid
4. Boost control "vent" solenoid

Using a small air compressor and a pressure regulator dialed to ~60 psi as an air source for the WG dome, 3 psi wastegate spring.

Terminator X Max, manual transmission, drive-by-wire, 370ci Gen III engine at a little under a bar of boost on pump gas. Using the VSS to run a hacky boost-by-gear solution I cobbled together using a custom table.

Piggybacking here, but can you tell the ECM what intake PSI you want and it can figure out how to get there? Or is it going to be like a standard EBC where you have to tweak things.

thats why you split the signal off the map sensor and run in as "dome"

So if thats a yes, ECM can be commanded to make Xpsi and I just hit the gas pedal, well ****, may buy one soon

yeah pretty much just winged some numbers into the PID from matt happel and its within 1-2 psi of target boost

and it gets better...it lets you pick the top whatever % of your TPS and modulate boost against that percent window so you don't have to get all the way out of it if you spin (this is a very hard muscle memory to break btw)

it's pretty **** for a grand really.

caveat emptor though, the wiring harnesses are assembled by blind people

Plans are

Outputs
1:Fans
2:Fans
3:Mac valve for boost control
4:Mac valve for boost control

Inputs:
1:Trans Brake (for 2step, staging timing modifiers)
2ome pressure
3:VSS
4:might use for crossover pressure readings or maybe to monitor coolant system pressure. Not sure yet

If you ran a dump valve on the tranny for spooling you would need to use one of the outputs for that. At that point tho you better just buy the HP or dominator.

sorry for the newb questions. but why 2 outputs for boost control? is it only because you are using the "holley style boost control" with the 2 mac valves?
thanks,

The HP doesn't have any more I/O then the Terminator X, it has other nice options but limited in that regard.

thanks,
Some run two if running CO2 or compressed air boost control. Honestly I don't see a real need for it until you are going really fast, plenty of 8 second cars with a single solenoid.

Kinda the same with fans, you can trigger both with the same output.

you can also buy a $10 thermostatic switch with 1/8npt threads and save the outputs for important stuff

but yeah one 3 port for fill, one 3 port for vent. works good

unless I there’s another way to do it 2-step or “staging” as Holley calls it and T-Brake each need an input. Like everyone else, I’d like more I/O but it’s not worth 2 grand to me to switch to a dominator....
