Procharger - Stiff throttle pedal under acceleration
Main problem: Under a longer pull (Depressing the throttle pedal slowly) the pedal gets stiffer and stiffer as RPM's increase and boost builds. Only happening with 4.00" pulley
Supporting information: Doesn't get stiff if I just floor it from the get go, for example in first or second gear, or any gear from what i can tell
Fitech 102mm throttle body - trouble free operation so far, aside from this. Not sure of the cause.
As some of you know, I have recently installed a F1x Procharger running the Twin intercooler.
I originally ran this with the 5.25" pulley - made 6lb of boost at 6800rpm. Stiff throttle pedal was not an issue.
Recently upgraded to 4.00" pulley - made 7lb of boost at 4200rpm (huge freaking difference btw) - but now when I'm tuning, and making slower throttle pedal transitions, as I build boost and my RPM's climb, the throttle pedal becomes stiffer and stiffer. (I'm the one supposed to be getting stiffer from the new found power.... not my throttle cable ;-))
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Andy
I have honestly considered the physics behind this before as well. At this point, it is the only explanation I've come to as well. I just have a hard time buying it myself.
I inspected the throttle body, and I just can't see anything else that could explain this.
This might be common knowledge, and could just be a learning experience thing.
There is no real justification for a 102mm TB, as for most part, it's probably providing all the air your engine needs at 50% opening anyway.
