Air filter sizing
basically
5.3 rebuilt
turbo cam
bw s480 turbo
will be running 18psi
street car 99%
my options.
cone filter 7"tapered to 5" only 4.5" long (85 square inches) (very small for what I need)
90* bend right on turbo to fit a bigger filter which from what I have read is worse
Turbo-guard Maxx , least this will prevent fingers getting cut off or if a hose or belt becomes dislodged.
just open turbo.
One thing I can confirm though is I used to run a few different n/a carburetored cars (6-700hp) with very small air cleaners , and they choked down massively even on the street. they were closer to 40 - 50 square inches.
and the big problem is to fit the filter I have to cut the guard to fit the filter which is fine , but will look stupid if I then realise the filter is a **** idea and have to remove it leaving the hole.
