Default Stock 6.0 turbo question

Hey, posting for a good friend of mine. his car running with a bone stock 53k miles lq4 6.0, he really wants to put single turbo on it to make 5-600whp. I see single turbo 6.0 setups online often that seem pretty basic but make power.

i told him if he wanted to do a turbo cam then would prob need valve springs and at that point do HG with studs. however, would motor be ok if he just left the motor alone and put turbo on it?

change map sensor and add injectors/rail and add turbo kit etc. but the motor itself, could he still make the 5-600whp on single turbo on3 or vs racing if motor was untouched?

Stock cam 4.8s have made 800 wheel.
500 is absolutely possible with the right setup. No need to change the fuel rails, they will do way way more than 500, especially on gas.
Head gaskets and studs not required at that level, especially on an iron block.

He might have to do valve springs, though. LS6 springs are only $60.

awesome. He doesn’t want to touch a running motor unless had to. I haven’t done springs without removing heads before but I know you can put air in cyl to hold valve up. First for everything

You can get a fitting that threads into the spark plug hole, then you just hook an air hose up to it and change the springs.
Some guys will shove rope into the cylinder until it won't hold any more and that will hold the valves in place too.
Either method works, and doesn't really add a lot of time to the spring changes.

I have leaks down tester. Can fill cyl that way.

Just make sure you give each of the springs a good pop with a rubber mallet or light dead blow before if using the air method, to make sure the retainer will come down off of the keepers/valves easier instead of getting stuck and pushing the valve down with them. Can get annoying.
