Default Any advice on the lsx 376 B15???

So I been looking at different scenarios of engines. Buy stock 5.3 and boost it to hell, build a lq9 with h beams, forged pistons and 317 heads. And now looking at this lsx376B15 looks interesting for price. Any comments on these for boost. Has 6 bolt per cylinder and I would guess crank and rods would be as good or better than a stock lq9???????
wanting to make 1000-1100 rwhp and it’s going in a ford falcon so probably 2800 race weight

B15 should do 1000-1100 rwhp no problem. It's honestly a bit overkill for that IMO. Plus you're adding an additional 110-120# with the iron block. You could run it as is, but I would recommend replacing the factory head bolts that come with the motor with an ARP bolt, or preferrably stud. Guy from KC i know made 1300 rwhp with a B15 that I know had ARP studs or bolts, and I think a different cam. That has to be about the max that set up can handle, and I don't know for how long though. If you decide you want to go the 6 bolt aftermarket block route, there are better options from builders out there. I know of a shop that sells LSX and Dart LSNext blocks with better forged internals for the same or even less than what the LSX B15 goes for. They're not a forum sponsor so I can't post, but feel free to PM me if you want their info.

Personally what I would do is a happy medium which would be an aluminum 5.3 with forged crank rods and pistons. Right now if I had to build another motor it would be an aluminum 5.3 with a K1 or Molnar forged crank, and then the new summit forged rods and pistons. MAVN just finished his build using the summit parts and they look very nice for the cost. He has a build thread in this same forum. Check it out.

2800 lbs? It's going to FLY even with an iron block. How fast are you looking to go?

Haider’s old combo was 3500 lbs in an LT1

6.0 iron block bored 30 over so 370ci

Eagle h beam rods and diamond pistons.
317's, ported, aftermarket valves, springs etc.
Stock main caps with arp hardware
Arp main studs

stock: block, crank, heads, ls6 intake, rockers,TB, pcm, water pump, coils
radiator fuel tank and fans

air to air intercooler
twin gt40-88 turbos
walbro pumps

Car was driven anywhere on 93 and was tuned on 110 only (no c16) Compression 9.5:1
made 1008rwhp , th400, 9 inch and 28 inch slick

8.41@165 mph
5.40 to the 8th

It ran as much as 22 lbs and never pushed water. I believe the combo was never touched for 5 seasons of racing and then sold to a new owner. I'm pretty sure speed inc did the tuning.

Cheap
Reliable
Fast

Who says you can't have all 3?

I went ahead and bought ls3 I’m going to just put cam spring head studs arp rod bolts. Gap oem ring and setup car with that engine. Then have me a serious motor built.

thank you guys for comments and suggestions

I'd say the one area where an upgrade would be nice....is I think the B15 still uses head bolts ?

And no doubt a better camshaft would help too. But other than that it's definitely a good motor
