Default Inline style blow off valves?

Had never seen these. Anyone using them. Seems like a nice hassle free install. Curious if the little set screws and O'ring hold up.

Interesting. Seems like a mouse trap that most don't need. Some more details on Amazon as to how it works and pics of the inside of the tube.

Description

OBX Inline Blow Off valves are designed to work with all 2.5" outer diameter inlet and outlet piping systems. The valve system is installed using a slip fit design and sealed via inner o-ring to seal charged air after an intercooler. This pipe is perforated with a ring of ports which are alternately covered or uncovered by means of a ring shaped piston which wraps around the pipe and is actuated by vacuum and boost pressure to open as soon as the throttle is closed.

Note: This space saving design inline blow off valve is designed to stay open at idle and is not recommended for vehicles equipped with Mass Air Flow sensors unless the application is running a blow through setup.

What I don't understand is how it doesn't "pop off". it won't slide over a bead, and I can't imagine the set screws would hold up to big power without something to grab. Maybe some small holes a MM or 2 deep would work. Still... cool idea.

Definitely a novel idea....wonder how it will sound too ?

Certainly a lot neater and more compact than conventional designs, and perhaps also a stronger seal on boost ? Not that that is much of a concern in most cases anyway.

The info sheet on it says it stays fully open at idle so there goes its usefulness on any MAF setups. The setscrews I would just toss and drill the pipe and run rivets. Maybe use two setscrews just to hold the thing tight while I found the right angles before drilling. Unless you really can't fit a normal one anywhere I can't see it being much more than a pain in my ***. This falls into the "if it isn't broke don't fix it" category for me.
