Default 5.3 turbo options

Sooo...this whole summer I ran my lc9/th400 sn95 with a vs racing billet 75/87 t4 1.1 ar. Long story short, ended up pushing water and hydro locked and bent a rod just a little bit. Currently getting a rod/piston combo. Car has gen 2 cts-v exhaust manifolds, 2.25" custom hot side. Full spool was right around 4k rpm. Now with the built motor I wouldn't mind a bit more power but really don't want any more lag for a street car. Anyone have any ideas on a good turbo that would fit my needs? Fyi car made 730/634 on a dyno jet on 16psi. Ran as high as 22psi.

Seems like that setup shouldn't have any lag if it's geared right with the right converter and tune. It's also not that much boost. You could always turn up what you've got. VSR makes a billet 80 but it's going to be more laggy.

Car has a good tune and 3.55 gears. The turbo I have is rated for 1000 flywheel hp and I'm pretty sure at 20+ psi it was there so I dont think there is much left.

Then you might consider the bullet 80. You could call Viren and ask him what is the next step up for your goals.

I ran a genuine Borg billet S475/87 1.10 T4 on an L33 and it was all-in by 3200 @ 20 PSI. Thing was a light switch for spool.

I ran a billet S476 from FI on my last setup. T4 and 1.10 a/r with a 96mm exhaust. With a manual, it was all in by 4800rpm. I could have probably gotten it to spool up faster with some tuning changes but it was still fun to drive on the street. It made 1050whp @ 24.5psi and still had some room to go.
